personal professional support for lactation

Lavender Lactation

Founded in 2021 by Leeann Larsen

One might say I’m absolutely passionate about supporting new babies and their families. Before starting my career and business as a lactation consultant, I spent many years as an obstetrics nurse.

Being able to help new parents with resources and practical advice is incredibly fulfilling.

Through my nursing work and my own experiences as a mother, I began to see an incredible need for solid, evidence based and hands on support for lactation in our community and the surrounding areas.

Until I opened Lavender Lactation in July of 2021, there was absolutely no one with an IBCLC designation between here and Grande Prairie!

While peer support and family can be helpful, they just aren’t equipped to deal with some of the obstacles to success a new parent might face in feeding their child.

Whether you call it breastfeeding, chestfeeding, human milk feeding or nursing – it is not always as easy and instinctual as it might first seem. It’s normal to need knowledge and support to start and continue breastfeeding. I’m here to be that special support for my clients.

My Mission

To support and encourage parents to meet their breastfeeding goals.

I am here to provide evidence based and practical help so that parents can feel confident in being actively involved in the decisions about their breastfeeding experience.

I provide a non-judgemental and safe space to explore feeding options for your infant.

This is the core of my lactation consultation practice. This mandatory session for all first time clients features an in-person visit in which I’ll review the medical history of parent and baby and address any current concerns and goals related to breastfeeding/lactation.

Prenatal classes help you prepare for baby’s arrival with everything about feeding your baby with your own milk in a way that works for your family. That could mean exclusive breastfeeding, pumping or bottle feeding, occasional pumping, hand expressing or mixed feeding

Book this if you are a partner or grandparent to be and have little to no idea how to support your loved one while they learn to breastfeed the new arrival…

This non-certificate workshop is designed for two people in office to learn the basics of infant and child CPR through a combination of lecture and skill building to give you the confidence to deal with any emergency situations that arise.
